India may face terror threat at West Coast

NEW DELHI: Home Minister P. Chidambaram said on Wednesday that its intelligence agencies have intercepted a likely terror threat to India's west coast."There is an input, that there could be a threat to the west coast. We have, therefore, shared it with (the state governments of) Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra."But that does not mean that there is an imminent attack," a local news agency quoted Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram, as saying to media in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh's capital Hyderabad. But the minister did not specify which kind of terror threat it could be.India has witnessed its worst terror attack on Mumbai last November, which claimed the lives of over 170 people, including foreign nationals. The attacks exposed the loopholes of the country's maritime security.
